At Giraffe Manor in Nairobi, Kenya, Rothschild giraffes are VIP guests. Extinction for this statuesque species seemed imminent not so long ago, when there were only 120 individuals known to exist in the world. Today, Rick and Bryony Anderson live at Giraffe Manor carrying out the work to save the Rothschild giraffe.
This show follows Rick and Bryony’s efforts to relocate a giraffe they have named Barbara – a tricky proposition due to a number of factors, not the least of which is the animal’s high-strung temperament. Ultimately the relocation proves successful. Barbara finds a new home with the resident herd of Rothschild giraffes in the open, wild sanctuary of Soysambu. Her presence among them is a great hope for the future of the species.
