The Rescued Koala

National Geographic & ITV

Found nowhere else in the world, these strange and gentle marsupials pass their days quietly munching eucalyptus leaves. But with the forests they depend on dwindling at an alarming rate, koalas find themselves in a battle for survival. An estimated 80% of the world population of koalas is struggling to live in urban conditions where the odds are stacked against them.

Enter Glenys Kouwenberg and Narelle Thomas, dedicated volunteers at the only koala hospital in all of Australia. For the many koalas like Jim Beam, crippled by an injured leg, the hospital in Port Macquire is the only hope of survival. Under the experienced hands of Glenys and Narelle, Jim Beam survives, and returns to the familiar comfort of Australia’s eucalyptus trees well on his way to perfect health.
